The XIR Laminated Glazing System is being introduced through ZGI under license from SouthWall’s Technologies Inc. USA, the leader in coating technologies. It designs and produces technologically advanced thin film coating that selectively absorbs, reflect or transmit electromagnetic radiation. South wall’s products are used in a number of architectural products to enhance optical and thermal performance characteristics, improve user comfort and reduce energy costs.
In Cooperation with Southwall’s XIR invites the architectural use of sunlight while selectively reducing unwanted heat gain. The demand by architects, builders, owners and occupants today is for natural day-light with reduced cooling loads. Since it was introduced in 1995 XIR ® Laminated 72-47 (previously called XIR 70 or California Series) solar reflective film has been incorporated into some of the most sophisticated architectural projects in the world.
With XIR ® Laminated 72-41 ZGI along with Southwall’s Technologies the creator of XIR ® Laminated Glazing has a leadership position in the architectural solar control market.With a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC or Solar Factor in Europe) of 0.41 XIR ® Laminated Film delivers superior IR reflection with visible Light Transmission (Tvis) of 72% (3+3 mm. Clear Glass ), providing architects with unsurpassed durable solar control performance in a neutral colored, optically clear laminated glazing.
Both 72-47 and 72-41 types have a reflectivity in the visible (Rvis) of 8%. Identical to that of a clear float glass.Sandwich an XIR film “heat rejecting” coating between two layer of PVB and glass. The finished product has unique , Low- reflectance appearance, while allowing greater than 70% visible light transmittance but reflecting more than 50% of the invisible heat. Since this technology reduces the heating effect caused by absorption, greater design flexibility for energy-efficient glazing is available. XIR ®also has the benefits of reduced sound transmittance, increased security and ultraviolet protection 99.5% blockage.
