The late Abdullah Hamad Al Zamil founded the Group and twelve of his sons now sit on the Board of Directors. Their active involvement and vision continue to provide the driving force behind the growth and expansion of the Group.In 1990 the eldest son and Chairman of the Board, Mohammed A. Al Zamil, was awarded the title "Gulf Businessman of the Year". Recently he was also honored with the "Shaik Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Award" in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of Bahrain's national trade, economy and basic infrastructure. On presenting the award, His Highness the Deputy Amir Shaik Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated Mohammed A. Al Zamil and the Al Zamil Group for their service to the country and their distinguished commercial and social activities.
